Laghi di Coredo road stabilization

The project

Predaia (Val di Non, TN): Sustainable Stabilization of the Laghi di Coredo Road

In the heart of Val di Non, the Municipality of Predaia needed to consolidate a rural road running along the Laghi di Coredo — a route used year-round by agricultural vehicles and, during summer, frequented by tourists and visitors heading to the lakes.

The goal was twofold: to improve the stability of the roadbed and to reduce dust formation in summer and mud in winter, while maintaining a sustainable approach respectful of the natural environment.

After conducting in lab geotechnical tests on the existing soil— which showed an increase in compressive strength from 1.36 MPa (13.89 kg/cm²) to 7.76 MPa (79.15 kg/cm²), equivalent to a 560% improvement — it was possible to reuse the same native soil, treated with the Soil Sement® stabilizer.
The soil was first milled with a rock-crushing machine to a depth of about 15 cm, then sprayed with a mixture of Soil Sement® E.F. and water.
Once evenly blended, it was compacted with a roller to achieve a smooth, uniform surface.
Finally, an additional surface application of the binder SOIL SEMENT® increased abrasion resistance, ensuring a stable and durable roadbed.

Thanks to this intervention, the Laghi di Coredo road is now safer, more accessible, and sustainable, providing an efficient connection between nature, tourism, and local agricultural activities.

We supported Fedrizzi Scavi Srl of Toss (TN) in applying the products.

Project Phases

  • Phase 1 — Laboratory soil testing to define the optimal product mixture.
  • Phase 2 — Milling the soil to a depth of 15 cm to reduce particle size and obtain fine material.
  • Phase 3 — Spraying the Soil Sement® E.F. binder diluted in water in several passes.
  • Phase 4 — Mixing the soil and on-site verification of proper moisture content by a Green Ways technician.
  • Phase 5 — Shaping and creating rainwater drainage plans.
  • Phase 6 — Compaction with an 8 ton. roller in multiple passes.
  • Phase 7 — Final surface application of the Soil Sement® E.F. dust and erosion control binder.
  • Phase 8 — Final result: a cohesive, dust-free surface with high abrasion resistance.

The images below show the different operational phases and the final result after the application of the Soil Sement® binder.
